Mother's Day Reflections
We have the most difficult, challenging yet amazing job in the world... Some days are great yet others are just too much to handle. Days are busy and nights are long. Don't get me wrong, I love being a mom. I love spending time with my son. But I also love spending time with just 'me', I sometimes feel guilty for simply thinking about it. I feel bad to want to be alone; not alone to do work or run errands but alone doing things for myself. Does it make me selfish? does it make me a bad mom? After some soul searching and reflection I realized that it actually makes me human and spending time doing things I enjoy truly makes me a better person and a better mom! You see I had to learn this the hard way. We moved to a new city about a year ago and I quickly got sucked into a new routine that was so busy and in all the busyness I lost my focus on getting some regular 'me' time. I felt sluggish and lacked energy. Then one day a few months ago the light went on, when in doubt go back to basics. My health coaching training focused on a holistic approach with focus on nourishing primary foods; your relationships, career, spirituality, and exercise routine. I knew what had to be done, I got it all figured out and talked to my husband then I signed up and paid for a weekly Pilates class, I penciled in a weekly run and penciled in some self-care time to get my nails all pretty. I couldn’t contain my excitement the first time the receptionist at the yoga studio said “Oh yeah, this is Farah she’s here every Saturday!” Score! I notice that the more time I got alone the happier I was and more fulfilled I was with my life. For me it was all about finding the right balance; I needed to make space for me to spend time nourishing myself and in doing so I was able to take better care of my family. On this Mother’s day I will
celebrate with an extra run followed by a much needed pedicure at my favorite spa in town then I’ll be ready to spend the day with my lovely family. Isn’t it amazing how a healthy lifestyle goes beyond just making better food choices and working out, it is truly about the journey to discover what energizes you and what feeds your soul... I would be honored to take this journey with you, learn more about how I can help you find your inspiration everyday of the year. Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers!
