Water is essential to our survival. We can go weeks without food, but we can not survive without water. You see, the human body is made up of about 70% water and water is key in the proper functioning of our cells and nerves. "Drinking fluids is crucial to staying healthy and maintaining the function of every system in your body, including your heart, brain, and muscles. Fluids carry nutrients to your cells, flush bacteria from your bladder, and prevent constipation." (1)
Dehydration often causes fatigue, headaches and dizziness. Not fun!
It’s surprisingly difficult to differentiate between hunger and thirst. By simply drinking more water, you may notice that you become less hungry and naturally end up drinking fewer high-calorie, sugary drinks... You can flavor your water with natural ingredients, such as lemon, lime, orange, cucumber, mint leaves, strawberry slices, berries or pineapple chunks. I love using these fun ingredients in ice cubes for a fast fun way to quench your thirst! (2)
So Drinking enough water may seem like the obvious way to stay hydrated (which is super important) , but there is another less obvious way to keep your body hydrated... Eating water rich foods!
So what are water rich foods?
Greens, fruits, vegetables, and soup. These foods have a high water content and assist in keeping us hydrated. So be sure to fill your diet with these foods.
Start your day with a big glass of water then continue staying hydrated thought out the day by drinking water and eating water rich foods.
