Better Sleep? There's a Dessert for That!
Sleep is essential to our wellbeing but sometimes it's hard to get enough of it or the quality of our sleep is not so great. One night an intense craving for a childhood dessert, Arabic Ice-cream, led me to make this amazing dessert using real foods and guess what? it helped the quality of my sleep immensely!
Why? Because food is truly magical; it can help nourish us, heal us, and energize us!
So let's take a closer look at this delicious dessert:
- Pistachios. "Melatonin has been reported to improve sleep efficiency and it was found that eating melatonin-rich foods could assist sleep." (1) Pistachios are the most melatonin rich food ever recorded!!!! As little as 2 nuts should do the trick, pretty incredible right! So enjoy a few raw pistachios before bedtime and get a dose of melatonin without the side effects of supplements... Or enjoy a serving of this dessert since it has a generous amount of pistachios!
- Bananas. Bananas help promote sleep because they contain the natural muscle relaxants magnesium and potassium. They are also a great source of carbohydrates which will help make you sleepy.
