How to Make a Healthy Trail Mix


I like snacking on Trail mix, I get a variety of flavors and textures, which I find it so satisfying. For sure I need to watch my portions cause I can get easily carried away. So I always put some in a bowl and NEVER eat out of the Jar!


Here are a couple of things to keep in mind when making your own:


๐Ÿ’œ Use what you have on hand to put this together; a mix of nuts, seeds, unsweetened dried fruit, coconut flakes, banana chips and some chocolate. I like to layer them so Iโ€™ll use a measuring cup (1/4 cup or 1/2 cup depends on your jar size) and do equal portions of 2 different types of nuts, 2 different types of seeds, 2 different unsweetened dried fruits and 1 chocolate .


๐Ÿ’™ Focus on the quality of the ingredients... reading labels is always important. Pay close attention to added sugars to dried fruit.


๐Ÿ’š Raw nuts and seeds are best, dry roasted are ok too.


๐Ÿ’› I go for 70% dark chocolate that I break into bits or semisweet chocolate chips.

๐Ÿงก Mix it all up and always use a small plate to eat it, if you are anything like me, portion control is highly recommended.
